Getting To Know Your Nervous System

May 16, 2026 from 9:00am to 12:00pm

Gather Wellness Center in Lyman, ME

This experiential workshop offers a grounding introduction to the autonomic nervous system. Through a blend of gentle movement, breath work, and guided meditation, you’ll learn how to recognize the signals your body sends in moments of stress and calm. We’ll explore the five primary defensive states (fight, flight, freeze, fawn, and flop) and how they show up in everyday life.

By developing awareness of these patterns, you’ll begin to understand your body’s unique rhythms and responses and build the capacity to shift toward regulation with greater ease. Together, we’ll practice tools for settling the nervous system and nurturing a compassionate connection with yourself.

    • You want to feel more present, safe, and connected to your body. No prior experience required.

    • You’ve heard about the nervous system but don’t know where to start or haven’t explored it in your own body.

    • You regularly practice mind body connection but still find yourself triggered at times.

    • A clearer map of your mind and body under stress

    • Trauma-informed tools and practices to build regulation skills

    • Greater awareness of the safety and calm already within you

Grounding Skills for Nervous System Regulation

Saturday, 6/6/26 from 9am-12pm

Gather Wellness Center in Lyman, ME

This three-hour experiential workshop is a deep dive into the art of grounding as a primary tool for nervous system regulation. Through a blend of gentle movement, breathwork, and guided meditation, you will learn how to anchor yourself when our minds get lost in the past or the future. We will explore the mechanics of the autonomic nervous system—specifically how to use the physical environment and your own body to navigate the five primary defensive states (fight, flight, freeze, fawn, and flop). By shifting your focus from mental loops to the "here and now," you will learn to catch the earliest signals of dysregulation and steer yourself back to balance.

In this session, you will gain:

  • A Physical Anchor for Stress: Learn to use the ground beneath you and your own "felt sense" to break the cycle of anxious overthinking.

  • Trauma-Informed Grounding Tools: Build a versatile toolkit of sensory practices to stabilize your nervous system in real-time.

  • The Power of Presence: Develop the ability to exit the past or future and reside in the safety and calm of the present moment.

Cost: $75
